WHAT WE OFFER:
Concordia creates opportunities for European students of higher and university education:
- to have an internship in small and medium size enterprises in various sectors of the Turkish industry, both in the private and public sector
- to gain an understanding of the business atmosphere of a different culture and society, in a field directly related to the student’s studies and career goals
- to be better prepared in becoming a well qualified professional in the international business world
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
To be eligible for the Concordia’s internship program the student has to meet the following requirements:
- presently must be a registered student of a European higher education school or university
- should preferably be educated in the EU and have EU citizenship, regardless of ethnic origins
- must be a student of a school with the internship being a credit requirement of the school in reference, for post graduate internships a letter of the university in support of the internship or certification of the diploma is sufficient
- having lived the age of 18, and not older than 28
Concordia’s executive committee holds the right to turn down an applicant for inaptness in suitability and adaptability to the available conditions and opportunities provided.
PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS:
The student must provide the following:
- an application form filled in completely and signed
- a cover letter describing his/her motivation and objectives
- a school form filled in by the school administration, or referral documents of the school administration
- a certificate of health insurance coverage issued by a European insurance company covering the entire stay in Turkey
- a valid visa or any other official certification which may be a requirement for a stay abroad (detailed information can be obtained from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the country of residence)
SCOPE OF THE CONCORDIA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
Duration of the internship may vary from a minimum of two months to one year, depending on the intern’s needs and the hosting company’s availabilities.
Due attention is given to have a work opportunity in direct relation to the student’s career plans as described in the application form.
Concordia shall provide the following:
- selection and contacting of possible hosting companies, in public or private sector, that might be willing to accept a foreign student for an internship, according to the student’s field of study and his/her interests and career plans
- detailed information to hosting companies about the purpose of the program as well as the specific abilities, interests, skills and ambitions of the student
- assistance in finding suitable accommodation for the internship period
- references on available reading material or other sources of information
- counselling and guiding during the internship, if and when required
- a minimum of one hospitality event which may be a dinner, brunch, picnic, cultural visit, etc. (attendance is optional)
FINANCIAL TERMS:
Concordia does not have funds available to meet any expenses on behalf of the student.
Students are expected to cover all travel and accommodation costs on their own. Concordia will assist the students to find a suitable place to stay.
Students must have full health insurance coverage (a statement to confirm this should be faxed to and approved by Concordia prior to arrival in Turkey).
During the internship some hosting companies do not offer a salary, others offer to pay the student a salary based on the monthly minimum wage (in May 2007 for unskilled workers YTL 403 net per month; for Euro exchange rates see www.tcmb.gov.tr). The salary is paid at the end of each month.
